Where Relay works differently

Scheduling that checks the route before booking

FieldPulse's route optimization schedules a set of jobs in the order you click them on the map, spaced by the default job duration and default travel duration you enter. Its booking portal's Smart Scheduler offers times based on your team's schedules and skills, with optional free time before and after a job for driving.

Relay compares the additional drive time each eligible placement would create before offering the customer a time. It matches the work to qualified technicians, accounts for the appointments on either side of each placement, and can shift flexible work to make room while preserving fixed times and customer arrival windows.

The office, online booking, and maintenance booking all use this same check, so a time a customer picks online has already been tested against the route it joins.

The same engine also builds a whole day in one step: Build Schedule assigns the day's unscheduled work to technicians and orders each route, keeping locked jobs in place and respecting priorities, skills, and availability.

Maintenance visits customers can book themselves

Both systems support maintenance agreements and equipment service history. FieldPulse creates each agreement's visits 12 months ahead as unscheduled jobs for you to place on the schedule, and can email the customer a reminder before a visit.

When a plan owes a visit that can be booked online, Relay automatically invites the customer by text and email to book it themselves, using times the scheduling engine has already checked against the route. Reminders follow while it stays unbooked, and booking creates the job, tied to the plan and any covered equipment.

Built from the ground up for speed

Relay keeps jobs, customers, schedules, and the pricebook locally on web and mobile. Screens open instantly, without waiting for a server.

Which fits your operation?

FieldPulse may fit better if

  • You rely on its supplier integrations, such as City Electric Supply, for live pricing on estimates and purchase orders.
  • You manage multi-stage projects with deadlines, tasks, and milestones.
  • You rely on a FieldPulse integration, report, or workflow that Relay does not currently support.

Relay may fit better if

  • You want one price for the whole company, without buying seats or adding phone, AI, and pricebook products.
  • You want availability checked against the route before a time is offered.
  • You want customers to book eligible upcoming maintenance visits themselves.

Before switching

Can I bring my FieldPulse data to Relay?

Relay can work from FieldPulse exports, such as its customer, estimate, and invoice exports, during guided onboarding. We review which records and fields can move before you switch, rather than promising a one-click transfer of everything in your account.

Can I keep my existing business number?

Yes. Relay ports eligible business numbers, so customers keep calling and texting the number they already know.

What would I give up by switching from FieldPulse?

FieldPulse has a larger integration ecosystem and capabilities built up over many years. Check the integrations, reports, and specialized features your business depends on before switching. Relay may not cover every one of them.

FieldPulse details checked October 16, 2026 against its pricing, terms of service, route optimization, booking portal, assets, maintenance agreements, maintenance reminders, supplier integrations, project management, and data export documentation. Features and plans can change.
