Relay vs Jobber

Jobber is a mature platform built for many kinds of service businesses. Relay is built around how an HVAC operation fits together: equipment, maintenance, scheduling, pricing, and inventory.

Where the systems differ

Scheduling before the promise

Jobber's Find a Time considers availability and travel before and after a new appointment, and suggests slots with shorter drive times. Online booking can limit appointments by drive time. Its route optimizer reorders anytime visits; timed appointments stay in place.

Relay can optimize the day when adding a new job. It matches the work to qualified technicians, compares the additional travel created by different placements, and can shift flexible work to produce a better schedule while preserving fixed times and customer arrival windows.

The same scheduling engine powers office, online, and eligible maintenance booking, and can build the day's schedule from unscheduled work.

Equipment and maintenance

Jobber tracks work around the customer and property. Equipment details such as model and serial numbers can be stored in custom fields, with work performed recorded in job notes, attachments, and job checklists.

Relay gives each piece of equipment its own record and service history. Jobs stay linked to the units they concern, so a technician can see what was done to a specific furnace or condenser over time, even when a property has several systems. Relay supports job-level checklists too, and templates assigned to equipment create a separate checklist for each linked unit on a visit. Checklist notes and photos stay in that unit's service history.

Maintenance coverage can apply to a whole property or specific equipment. When maintenance comes due, the customer can be invited to book that specific visit, and the appointment stays connected to the plan.

Business phone and texting

Jobber's two-way texting uses a dedicated number selected in Jobber. Calls to that number forward to the company's phone line.

Relay includes the business phone system. Keep your existing business number or get a new one from Relay. Calls and texts use the same number, with conversations, call history, and customer context in one place.

Pricebook and inventory

Jobber's standard Products & Services list records costs, prices, and markups.

Relay builds flat-rate service prices from labor and materials, then connects those materials to physical stock. Inventory is tracked across warehouses and trucks, including serialized units; transfers and job usage update where stock is held and connect material cost back to the work.

Pricing is simpler

$99/month. Every Relay feature included, unlimited users, a business phone system, and no contract.

Jobber offers several plans with different included features, user counts, billing terms, and optional add-ons. Compare Jobber's current plans.

Relay includes 100 AI voice minutes per month. Additional AI voice usage and payment processing are billed separately. See Relay pricing.

Which fits your operation?

Jobber may fit better if

  • You want a mature platform used across a broad range of service trades.
  • You rely on a Jobber integration, report, or workflow that Relay does not currently support.
  • Jobber's larger ecosystem and longer operating history matter to your business.

Relay may fit better if

  • Equipment history and maintenance coverage are central to how you serve customers.
  • You want the work, technician, route, and customer promise considered together before a time is offered.
  • You want flat-rate pricing, truck inventory, and materials used on jobs to stay connected.

Before switching

Can I bring my Jobber data to Relay?

Relay can work from a Jobber export during guided onboarding. We review which records and fields can move before you switch, rather than promising a one-click transfer of everything in your account.

Does Relay handle recurring maintenance?

Yes. A maintenance plan can cover a property or specific equipment, with included visits and recurring billing. When a visit is owed, the customer can be invited to book that visit against the plan.

Can I keep my existing business number?

Yes. Relay can port most eligible business numbers, so customers can keep calling and texting the number they already know.

What would I give up by switching from Jobber?

Jobber has a larger integration marketplace and capabilities built up over many years. Before switching, check the integrations, reports, and specialized features your business depends on. Relay may not cover every one of them.
